"Although it has not been possible to ascertain how many were
built, records show that in November 1916 50 D Is and 28 DIIs were
serving at the Front; January 1917 saw 39 D Is in use and as many as 214
D IIs. By November 1917 the figures were reduced to 9 D Is and 11 D
IIs, by which time the D III and D V were very much in prominence.
