>
>Hi Alan. I wonder if you could ask your members if anyone has or knows of
>a good print of the photo of the petty officers at RNAS Longside which was
>reproduced on page two of the Christmas 1917 issue of The Battlebag? As
>luck would have it, this photo is poorly reproduced compared with other
>similar photos in The BB. I am researching the life of a man called
>William John Daniels, who was a petty officer hydrogen worker, and was at
>Longside from about August 1917 to January 1918. Therefore he should be on
>this photo, and indeed I think I have found him on it, but to be sure, I
>need to see a better reproduction of it.
>
>Also, I wonder if anyone can date precisely two photos in the book
>"Battlebag", by Ces Mowthorpe. Page 53, bottom, C14. (Said to be 1914, but
>this is wrong. Text says C14 built 1916, to Longside September 1916). Has
>this photo been printed with the negative reversed? Second photo is page
>54, bottom, C18. (Text says C18 to Longside November 1916).
>
>I realise that all this may be a tall order!
>
>Many thanks, Nigel Hancock.
