My thoughts exactly, Diego, although that last line sounds like something you'd hear at an Irish wake.
Cheers,

While it's very sad to know about someone so young die (50 something, right?), let's see it from another perspective. For someone so passionate about WW1 aircraft, and flying, would be this way to go West a very sad ending? He loved the skies, he had the means to invest and fly his own airplanes with his vast knowledge of the joys -and let's say it- the risks inherent to operate early flying machines. Would Javier have preferred to die of old age, or from some disease, as mere mortals do?
Let's rejoice for all the good he did in his lifetime, let's grieve for the fact that he's not in this world anymore, and let's raise a glass of chilled champagne (1905 vintage if possible) and exclaim "We've tolerated you here because we've had to!"

Just heard of the loss today of Javier Fernando Arango while flying his Nieuport 28 replica in California. A Board Member Emeritus of NASM, and a wonderful advocate for aerospace museums and WW One history. A tragic loss.
