There are five different types, plus eyebolts and RAF anchor bolts. In 1/48, the Albatros ball-end type are about 5mm overall, with the turnbuckle itself about 3mm, which scales out almost perfectly to Jim Landon's 'everything you wanted to know about turnbuckles' :
They are metal, carved by tiny Greek elves, and incredibly fiddly, and will challenge even those of us with severe OSM, but they look to be the final answer to the problem in 1/48 and 1/32
