Subject: [WWI] Info

I'm doing some research using Keimel's "Die Albatros (O.E.F.) Jagdflugzeuge
der k.u.k. Luftfahrtruppen" and I've run across a German word that I don't
recognize, nor is it in my small Collins German dictionary. The word is a
verb, "havariert." Looks like "lost", as opposed to "abgeschossen" or shot
down. Anyone help with a translation?

Also, I'm looking for a reference book that will give fairly detailed
information on the various types of Italian aircraft (number of crew,
armament, speed and climb characteristics, etc.), similar to Pete Grosz's
book on Austro-Hungarian aircraft or Jack Bruce's books on British aircraft.
Does such a book exist? If not, does anyone have this information on two
specific types, the Macchi L.3 and M.8?

As usual, TIA.

                                Mike
