My experience with vacs matches Dennis' exactly.
The only OT vac kit I've seen with lower wing halves was the Junkers D.I from Warbirds (Hannants).

Sean,
One does nothing to the bottom of the wings except sand and scribe the
ribs in. One single swipe of a scribing tool does the trick. The
thickness of the plastic is perfect for 1/72nd scale. You can add a
bottom and spend countless hours trying to get to look right. All of my
1/72nd are single thickness wings and the results speak for themselves.
After scribing, locate the strut holes, a half turn of a drill makes a
hole deep enough to hold it securely. And they never sag. My Lohner is
at least 15 years old and looks as good as the day I put it in the case.
In fact, I have a Chorozy kit that I will be building this year and I
am going to replace the resin wings with Roseplane vac wing forms.
Every resin kit I have built has sagging wings. I have never had a vac
sag.
I have never built a 1/48th vac but I think you can still get away with
the single thickness wing if the original plastic is thick enough. I
build using the KISS method (Keep It Simple, Sweetheart) I don't like
the word stupid. The kit may be a zillionith of an inch off but it will
still look good and will not turn out to be a lifelong project.
The offer is always on the table if you need any help.
