[WWI] 1/48 Eduard Spad

Help!  I'm throwing together Luke's Spad to give to Stephen Skinner when we get together at San Antonio and I don't know what a particular part is, or where it goes.

I've looked several times over the instruction booklet and I can find no mention of part D20.  What is it?  Where does it go?  Leave it off?
