Being in the middle of nowhere, WV becomes a crossroads...

Sounds like a great trip, Dave... Civitavecchia is an interesting old  
town; leave yourself time to see it. Also, it's quite near Bracciano/ 
Vigna di Valle and the Italian Air Force Museum–are you going to try  
to get there? Alternatively, Tarquinia is just up the road from  
Civitavecchia and has a good little museum of Etruscan finds from the  
tombs surrounding the town: one of my favorite places in Italy. And  
just off the Autostrada between Rome and Civitavecchia is the town of  
Cervetri with a necropolis of above-ground Etruscan tombs. Great stuff!
