Doubtful. I don't think the positioning of the holes on the real aircraft was so precise that this would be the case. Many of them had a leather reinforcement patch around control wire exit holes which made for a tight fit anyway, though with wear & tear plus exposure to the elements this could make for a large and unevenly shaped aperture. I really do think we're putting too much thought into a teeny tiny topic here. Drill a hole, stick a wire in and be done with it!
