I trying to form a theory.

Do you think WWI was so awful that society couldn't take a Band of Brothers or Private Ryan intensity program?

WW2 was plenty horrible. Don't get me wrong. WWI has always struck me as being especially horrible because of life in the trenches and the atrocious way the war ate young men to name a few.

It would be tOo much for most people to watch. Although I do wish more people would grasp what happened. Then we can stop doing it...

Let me see if I've got this theory right.....

If film-makers stopped making rubbish war films replete with embarrassing errors and made life(death)-like ones showing all the blood, gore and horror of real war, then the worlds population would be so revolted that war would become a thing of the past.

Sounds good. Got a precedent, too. Ever since Sam Peckenpah splattered the big screen with ketchup, you don't see too many bank robbers on horseback, do you? And I believe the cowboy population isn't what it once was.

Yeah, OK. But I may have spotted a flaw.

No war = no List. So, sorry, but millions have to die in excrutiating pain just so a few hundred people can stick lumps of plastic together a few years after each episode!!

Chris (diving for his tin titfa).
