[WWI] Ago C.II colour schemes

The Ago C.II had plywood fuselage and booms, yet none of the pictures I have
show any trace of any grain on fuselage or booms (except for the prototype).
Every picture shows a uniform pale colour, the white of the markings shows
up against this colour.
Any references or views on what finish was used?
