Howdy all,
Just got back from a week's holiday in Croatia. Went from 24°C+ and blue
skies and returned to rain, wind and temps of 11°C. &£$%"@# British
weather...!!!
Thanks for the kind words on the SE5a. Answers to questions...
Diego:
The inspection ports were drilled out and then cut & filed to shape using
the markings moulded in the plastic as a guide. Bottom (or top, in the case
of the top wing) surface was covered with .005" sheet, cut and fitted as
precisely as I could to minimise the amount of filling & sanding needed. Any
remaining gaps were filled with a couple of coats of Mr. Surfacer and
carefully sanded so as not to destroy the rib detail. Clear covering was
decal film.
Jan:
Yep, the horizontal stabs were nicely deformed in my kit too. They had a
lovely droop to them which I did my best to get rid of, though not entirely
successfully.
I've been signing & dating my kits for as long as I can remember. Whenever I
take something out of the box and look at the start date I usually discover
it's been gathering dust for years since I started it; sometimes the guilt
kicks in and I actually finish something then!
Steve:
The prop is carved from 3 laminations of 1/32nd inch plywood. Usually I only
use 2 but the SE's prop looked too thin with only 2 so I added one more.
Hope I got everyone's questions.
