The port is an access for the breech of the Vickers, the starboard one is clear, it's a 'skylight' for the instrument panel.  Post war, some SE's had the port side one clear as well.

Gentlemen
I have a query.
I am currently building an RAF SE5a. Looking at the photographs in the Windsock datafiles there are two panels in tandem on the starboard cowling immeadiately in front of windscreen. The largest (aft) appears to be glazed. 
Is this indeed clear? What were the purposes of these two panels?
All help greatfully received.
