I've heard that FE 2 was called "Flying Piano", but, IIRC, by the Germans because of the profile of its condole. "Spinning Incinerator", "Flaming Coffin", "Fokker Fodder"... Seems like black humour gets you through horrible times! Did Germans have such names for any of their not too popular planes or was "Möbelwagen" best they could offer? Or were their planes generally so good, taht you did not have to give them names showing grim humour?

Someone on the list, I think, brought up the nickname for the DH. 4, "flaming coffin", although probably coined by British crews, it was used by Americans to libel the US DH.4, or "Liberty Plane". The question I have, is which plane was the "Spinning Incinerator" ? IIRC it was the FE.2, but it might have been the DH.2, or was it something else? Just curious.
