[WWI] "Scale Effect"

Sounds like I'm currently on the same page as the majority of the group regarding trying to achieve scale effect.... it's another symptom of AMS and if you want to get something accomplished move on!!! The comments regarding the differences between artists and modellers are bang on IMHO. I too have quietly scratched some peeling paint off a locally displayed (ot) destroyer from the second unpleasantness and realized the "haze gray" was darker than early WWII "battleship gray" which would have made my box scale Arizona look like a lump of coal on the shelf. Da$%# Testors won again!
My question about scale effect on AG decals was more to do with the ridiculous prices currently being obtained on eBay and my previous posting back in January. Obviously as things get scarcer the price goes up. Who wants to pay US $50+ to buy 3 sets of decals in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 if they are all the same "scale effect" (tonal value)? Having as I now do sufficient of the night camo in 1/48 (thanks to Mr. T.),
I thought I would simply take one of the sheets to the local copy store and have them downsize it and "brighten" at the same time on decal material using a higher end laser printer. This way there would be some difference between the 2 Gothas I'm building in 1/48 and the 1/72 Roden (with it's IMHO horrible colour decals), which I am also using as a pattern to accurize the old Aurora kits. Any thoughts would be appreciated!!
