yea thats fine too if your doing it trying to help someone that way. I didnt mean to get going big on subject, but yest on a diff site I saw it boil over into an all out feud and thought it was silly over someones ref showing one thing and someone elses showing diff. was just making point about as long as someones happy who cares type. yes pointing out to someone is good but usually thats where I feel it should end if they say their happy anyways. and thats usually when ppl start argueing over the stuff.

Okay, but I still sort of agree and disagree. There are ways to do it and ways to avoid, but what about the situation when someone new to the era builds something which is plainly far from something which is well documented and widely accepted ?

My reaction would be to gently point the newcomer towards some references, not to denigrate the present model, but the help along the way to more understanding and better future results.

With almost no effort I can find numerous threads on the net where people whinge about modelling "experts" who are unwilling to share their hard won knowledge or techniques. Frankly, I have never had that happen to me, but maybe the "expert" doesn't share for fear of being branded a know-all or braggart simply for *trying* to share.
