[WWI] "Scale Effect"

You may well be right, Joe. You put up a pretty convincing argument. But I think you're missing the point.

This and the Pfalz thread and, no doubt, countless previous threads, have shown, as you have done, that colours change slightly according to circumstance. (Which begs the question as to what circumstances and conditions prevail when a colour is defined).

Someone once said to me that ambition should be unattainable. Because if you achieve your ambition, then what? And so it is with our modellers - if you're going to build and paint the damn thing, you might just as well get it right. Otherwise you could slap on any old approximation and blame the result on the light.

So we strive for the definative. Knowing, perhaps, that it is unattainable. And that is why we discuss (surely we don't argue?) the minutiae of undefined colours under circumstances not presented. Which is why postings like Aidrians are so valuable.

And possibly why Andy's comment has merit. (Yes, OK, I've taken it out of context.)

For myself, perhaps my eyes aren't as crooked as I thought. Which is a bit of a bugger, really, as I thought I may have solved the contention that Voss's cowl was yellow!
