It's complete bollocks. How do you know your "basic colours" aren't too
light to begin with??

A long time back I remember someone produced a chart that showed how much
white paint to add to basic colors to get "scale effect."  The chart showed
the proportion of white for each popular scale, from 1/72 to 1/32, varying
from about 13% white to 7%, IIRC.
 
Can anyone put up the figures for me again?  TIA.
