 I hadn't ever heard of him. Still don't know why he's of any interest!

He was a U.S. pilots, and ace, flying with 209 Squadron, RAF. He also was a
witness to Manfred von Richthofen's demise, and flew low over the crashed
red triplane, thereafter. I believe his career in aviation continued long
after World War I, as well...
