Sad to hear this news. The comments about getting back to 1/72 using existing 1/48, 1/32 etc. has historical precedence and may well turn out to be the case. We can only hope.
In the meantime let's not forget that there are other companies doing 1/72. Karaya, Choroszy Modelbud, Czech Omega, Ardpol, Luedemann,Czech Master, RVHP, HR Models, Elf Models, Vami, A-Model, Az Model and others that have done 1/72 scale WWI subjects over the last few years may still continue to bring out new stuff. Of course we can always depend on Airfix and Revell to bring out the same handful of WWI kits from the 1960s and 1970s over and over again :-)
Let's also remember that as of this date the number of 1/72 scale kits produced since the first wood and metal kits in the 1930s is 1,507 with the vast majority produced in the last fifteen years. This does not include re-pops such as MPC produced Airfix and the like. Then there are vehicles, artillery, figures, etc. that account for thousands more.
I would heartily suggest that every WWI modeler contact Roden and Eduard and let them know how much they appreciate their 1/72 scale products and how much they hope that more are on the way.
Tom
