This is the one Belgian show I get to, most years, in Hoboken, Antwerp. This time I didn't see any of our Belgian listees there, although I suspect a couple of the compo entries may have been the work of one of them. In 1/48th there was an Albatros D.IV conversion, a Siemens-Schuckert D. type (yup, I forget which is which) and a Pfalz D.III. In 1/72nd there was a Breguet XIV, and in the junior section a 1/72nd Triplane. That was it, I'm afraid. We left before the winners were announced. Not many entries of any genre, overal, was my impression, but still a very nice day for acquiring 2nd hand kits and meeting old friends. Plus Nico got to eat his yearly portion of Vlaamse Vrites (chips, to us Brits).

Further to the recent conversation about a Classic Planes kit as a first vac, I must mention I picked up a Breguet XIV and an AEG G.IV. These are both what I guess is the companies 'middle period'. There is no white metal, injection plastic or resin, but plenty of reasonable quality strut material. The Vac plastic in both cases is quite finely executed, particularly the ribs. I've seen what must be an earlier attempt at the Breguet by the same guy, and this was much poorer - very coarse detail, with ragged and gross wing ribbing. Anyway, at 1 euro each I was more than well pleased.
