[WWI] Red Baron Movie...just an opinion...

Ironically I bought 10 extra copies of it while I was in Hong Kong ($2 each)...I was planning on giving them away free to fellow list members here who were interested. But a customs officer at San Francisco International Airport took all 10 extra copies from me. He said he did not believe that I was going to give them away for free, that they must have been merchandise to resell, that I failed to declare them as merchandise on the customs form, etc. So he took them, left me with just the one DVD.
Maybe he'll sell them on Ebay.

I picked it up in Hong Kong...I don't think it's here in
the States yet. It's well worth watching, and I would recommend it to
all...it's just that I thought large chunks of the story seemed to go
nowhere (and I stress that this is just my opinion of course). That
being said, I watched the dogfight scenes probably about 10 times
already...so yes, when available go buy it!

I enjoyed the movie. I never dissect a
movie or I would always be disappointed. Instead I just watch for
the entertainment factor. overall I really liked it and thought it
was a well done movie. I find it on par with flyboys with the
exception you dont have a long huge gap in the middle with the
boring love story drivel. the love story was there but it was spread
out throughout the movie. the only thing I didnt care for was the
way it ended. I think the fight should have been there then cut to
the ending they ad. other than that it was an enjoyable
movie

Last week I picked up the Red Baron DVD, and
watched it last night. The full size Albatros fighters are
incredibly gorgeous, as are pretty much all the aircraft in
the film. I think they did a wonderful job on the workings
of Spandau mg's, the aerilons, etc...real eye candy. The
(very few) dogfight scenes are well done and kept me hooked.
There are some good actors and impressive visuals...but all
of that amounts to about 15 minutes perhaps. The rest of the
film was just plain boring and the actor who portrayed
Manfred was hardly likeable. Oh well...the aircraft are
still really really
cool.
