Shane  "has it", I talked to John Roll  (a while back) about WNW. Mr. Jackson  asked around, and did research, covering years ( and a fair bit of money)  to put together the very talented (most listees will recognize half or more of the names) team that produced those kits; it was a 'labor of love' not a profit seeking business deal, with years of 'up front' effort and money.  Perhaps only a very capable enthusiast like Mr Jackson COULD have put it all together. FWIW

It's a heck of a lot easier to plan and pay attention to detail, to produce stunning and expensive artwork, decals, mouldings etc *and* be able to sell them when (a single example) the massive tooling expense is paid up front.

Roden, Eduard et al can do so much with their money, and have to stop at a point where their break even says "no more time and money can be spent on this or we all go broke"

Careful planning and attention to detail etc still take *time* and cost *money*

IMO you will not see another manufacturer suddenly start producing kits to that standard at that price. None of them can compete, or won't for very long without that cash up front.
