It's a heck of a lot easier to plan and pay attention to detail, to produce stunning and expensive artwork, decals, mouldings etc *and* be able to sell them when (a single example) the massive tooling expense is paid up front.
Roden, Eduard et al can do so much with their money, and have to stop at a point where their break even says "no more time and money can be spent on this or we all go broke"
Careful planning and attention to detail etc still take *time* and cost *money*
IMO you will not see another manufacturer suddenly start producing kits to that standard at that price. None of them can compete, or won't for very long without that cash up front.
