For those of you who have used bamboo for struts do you stain them and if so
with what? If not what do you use for a finish on them?>.

You name it- I've used it. For stain/color, using the usual woody colors (
you know- light tans, browns, yellows and maybe even orange) I've used thin
oil based enamel, almost wash consistancy; extremely thinned acrylics- both
hobby and craft- sometimes thinned with water, sometimes Future); or in some
cases I've lucked out and had a bamboo stick that was naturally the right
tone to my eye in which case I just put some top coat on it. For that I've
used good old fashioned laquer from a quart can; Future; and CA smeared on
with a finger. With this last, if it left the grain a little raised, I'd
sand and repeat the process or put Future on over that. Or a combination of
all.
