Just to share a different point of view, my son came to visit last Friday
night and I gave him 3 new kits, a Revell triceratops (snaptite kit) the
Mobeus DR. Jeckyl & Mr. Hyde with glow in the dark parts (repop of the old
Aurora kit) , and the Revell Pirate ship (although nowadays glow in the dark
paint is not included, it came with it back in the 70's). He finished the
triceratops, pinted it, finished Dr, jeckyl & Mr. Hyde, and did about half
of the pirate ship by Sunday afternoon. Of course he needed help with the
pirate ship (I did the masts for him) but painted Mr. Hyde as well. looked
like a 7 year old made them but he was proud of them and spent serious time
on them, almost ready for a Testors Nieuport or Spad I think!

I've been working on the Eduard Eindekker, to try to finish it for a show, I
might make it, I might not, but, thinking about it, my modeling time is sure
a mess. I spend at least 2 hours on each kit looking for dropped or tweezer
launched fiddly bits (and not so fiddly). I spend days waiting for glue or
paint to dry, and hours scraping and? fine sanding parts to clean them up,
(mold lines) , AMS is a bitch. I miss my childhood, (or even my 30's) where
I could confidently build a kit in one night, or at least , a weekend. Where
did I get so messed up? T here are (younger) guys in my club who can still
make a decent looking kit in less than a week. FWIW
