Not to take away from what this guy did at all, because he's absolutely the hero of the day. BUt this reminds me of a similar situation in NO maybe 15-20 years ago when the I thik a 727 lost power after takeoff and a controller vectored the pilot to long strip of grass at the Nasa Michoud Assembly Fac. that had been a runway back during WWII or Korea. I think the pilot put it down gear up, skidding on the engines as sof as could be. Everyone walked off that plane. E.Honor and Glory to our Ancestral Gods

Yes, I was just telling the wife what a fantastic job he did. Imagine, putting an airliner into the Hudson River, and having all aboard get off safely. Professionalism.
