Thanks Mark for the kind reply.
Baxter is a purebred Yorkie, just turned 3 a couple weeks ago. ... He is a hand-me-down from two previous owners who had too many pets in their houses.

The kitten, Scooter, was born to our daughter's family cat and given to us as a pal for Baxter.

Clipping off the pictures as unnecessary duplication in my message, that is one cute pup. Not knowing breeds or what the mixes are -- mixed terrier? They always look like old men -- think Gandalf.
As far as the kitten is concerned, that is exactly what our youngest cat looked like. She is the sweetest personality of any cat I've known. She likes to burrow in the bedspread (duvet, for the non-American English speakers ;-) and has this, "Excuse me. I'm not one to complain, but we asked for food in our bowls, not THIS S***!" way of speaking -- and she talks incessantly. My wife and I have decided that Tiffie (Typhoon Rose) is sure that we would forget how to get showered and dressed if she did not give us constant reminders. We call her Little Bear, because she looks like she lumbers along. Then when I am reading, she curls up in my lap. 6 years old and all 8.25 pounds of her. Unfortunately, her rescue history seems to make her think that one mistake and she is back to the pound, so she gets nervous when we notice her playing or lying somewhere -- and uses the fact that she i! s hard to see in the corners and shadows a LOT.
Anyway, a lot of ot maunderings from someone who has not been able to write much for a year or so.
To Jim, all the joys of the season and your new adoptees.
To all the rest, a Merry Christmas, Winter Solstice, Hanukkah, Eid, or just holidays -- as long as you have family and friends, it won't matter what you are celebrating.
Sincerely,
Mark Shannon
