Hi Tim,
A couple of years ago i shipped an Aurora gotha from CT to San Diego CA and
used my normal packing method. unfortunately it was so large that it arrived
damaged, most of the struts broke off and the upper wing came loose. I was
able to repair it and found a great way to repair it, I bought a bag of poly
foam used to stuff pillows and various stuffed animals, a big bag is
available at the local wal mart for about $3.00. Put a layer down on the
bottom of your box about 3" thick and rest the model on it, it will sink
about an inch or 2 into the foam. then carefully pack around both sides of
the wings and fuselage, and put the rest on top up to the top of the box.
then pack it tightly colsed and it should be able to ship safely, mine made
the 2000 mile trip to California safely the second time.
Hope this helps
Dave

I am having trouble with shipping OT models.? I build kits for a buyer in
Hawaii and several kits I have mailed have been destroyed in transit.? I
have tried building jigs from cardboard, foam packing, and boxing within a
larger box. Most arrive intact but it seems the larger kits are not making
it.? What are some successful methods / materials that I might try.? Weight
and size?are big issue due to the location being
overseas.????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Thanks for all your advice,?? Tim
