Hello Valued Listers-
I had to move my mom closer last weekend because she has become unable to care for herself.
Anyway, going through some of her documents, my son found the attached photo. He thought it might be of some interest (!) to me.
The photo shows my grandmother standing by the rudder of a DH 9 or 9A near some large hanger buildings. The date is sometime in the '20s. There is some kind of device behind the rear cockpit of the plane- like a roller inside an opened cover.
Part of a unit emblem is visible. There is a large serial on the rear fuselage that looks to me like A 532 H _. There is a large dark outline "2" on the fin. The wing marking looks like the U.S. star.
Needless to say, I would love to find out more information on this plane. I don't think my grandmother ever left the U.S., and she lived in the Michigan area.
Thanks!!
J.R. Boye
