As far as I'm aware the D.1 had a windscreen.
 
You should be able to find plenty of period detail on a captured D1 at the Flight archives originally printed around 1917 (many of the drawings were reprinted in the Windsock Albatros special). As I recall the articles on the D1 ran for 4 or  5 weeks.

Go to the flight archive part of the site and type 'Albatros' in to the search engine or maybe 'Albatros scout' I doubt whether it would have been called the D.1 in the article.
