Thank you to everyone who responded for sharing all your very helpful information, knowledge and advice.

Dennis, I've got your website listed on Favourites and have started to go back through the archives. Already found a thread (is that a pun!?) discussing the merits of brass wire. But, boy, there are a lot of them. Perhaps if Alan is bored one wet Sunday afternoon and feels like doing a bit of indexing........

JR, thanks for the reassurance about stretching sprue.

Thank you to Ernest, John, Clare and Dave for your tips and techniques.

Also to Neil for his wise words in parenthasis.

And possibly to Diego, but I'm not sure why.

Chris.

I suspect this will be a Voss' cowl question, in that the list has addressed it countless times. But I wasn't a listee then!

Having marvelled at the rigging on JR's Halberstadt (amongst others) and noted his usage of "invisible" thread and stretched sprue, I want to ask who uses what, and why, when building 1/72. (And what's invisible thread, JR?)

Stretched sprue will probably be a no-no for me as I suspect the fumes from heated plastic and the remnants of my lungs will not be a good match

  TIA for your input,

  Chris.
