[WWI] J.R.'s sub

  Thanks for that, Marc.
I got pretty far along on the Emden-mostly built and painted- and then I found out through this list that there is a specific and expensive PE set available for it. I'm thinking seriously about that now, but it will add a lot to the project and the look of the model. The Emden has an incredible history, though, so I think it is worth it. I sure learned a lot researching it, also. Maybe I'll send in an "in process" photo.
U-35 is also started. I think I'll build it with the masts lowered, ready to submerge, rather than dealing with the impossibly messy wireless rigging. This vessel also has an amazing record. I'm still up in the air on hull color, but I'm leaning toward black. That'll probably be the next posted, but it will be a while...

Here's my formula for typical model budget: Research materials: 50%
                                                                                Decals: 15%
                                                                                PE parts: 20%
                                                                                Paint 10%
                                                                                Kit: 5%

Nice job on the the Austrian sub. It good to see someone posting a nautical subject. Since you mentioned the lengths of the U-35 and the Emden, I'm guessing they are in your stash. Which one will be your next naval model?
