Short made, and indeed still make some quite nice looking aircraft.
I'll concede that the Margaret Rutherford of seaplanes (Sunderland) and the James Cagney of bombers (Stirling) may have had some merit. But apart from them......?
Now Blackburn is another matter entirely, its difficult to think of anything nice looking from that stable, with the possible exception of their last pointy nose thing, that we shouldn't discuss here.
Have you ever been to Blackburn? If you have, then you, too, will be amazed that the beautiful and aptly named Kangaroo came from it during its worst years. And to add just a couple or two since then, there has been the sleek Skua, the Roc which should have John Wayne and Ernest Borgnine crawling all over it - and a very inovative aircraft, anyway - and the world's first specially designed, low-level, high-speed strike aircraft, the Buccaneer.
Neil, thank you for disagreeing. And for adding the wind-up. It keeps lists like ours going and adds snippets of information to be shared.
Chris.
