I've seen, somewhere, men with scythes, and I think I saw a shot that showed a push lawnmower. I've never read anything that mentions having to shoo sheep or cows off the field.

Subject: [WWI] Airfield maintainence
hi all,
Kind of an odd question, but does anyone know how airfields were maintained? Specifically, how did they cut the grass? Did they use farm equipment or unleash a heard of cattle?
All of this because I am working on a base...
cheers, tracy
