A nice model of a very old but still worthwhile kit.

This one is interesting. The model itself is very nice and will look a treat on Don's nice shelves with all the others. Then Don himself asks:

To *my* eyes the grain is too prominent for the scale, and like most wood grain decals suffers from being rather "regular" - two colours, one for the wood and one for the grain which is always the same width and density.
I suspect that it'd look very much nicer with a misted on coat of the same colour used for the wood base (or maybe even a slightly different colour), both to reduce the prominence of the grain lines and to make them less even.
Not, mind, that I'd be doing it myself, as I'm far too lazy and set in my ways when it comes to woodgrain. The idea remains, if anyone cares to try.
