Been thinking about getting one, after your review and Paul's with the Mk.I
Is the metal sheet strong enough?

  Everyone,

I bit the bullet and ordered the above jig about 2 weeks ago. It arrived in time to attach the wing on the Albatros J.2 and it is my opinion that this was money well spent. I have attached the upper wing for years with the eye ball method and various paint bottles and blocks of wood to hold the wing steady while I contorted in all directions to get the struts in place and glued. After the model is in the jig, it can be picked up and moved in any direction, including upside down with no problems. I am very pleased with the results. I personally do not have the knowledge to make a jig so the Aeroclub jig is for me.

One thing, though, if you order one. Prepare to spend a couple of hours putting it together. This thing is a masterpiece of moving parts. There are five pages of instructions of construction and useage. John Adams sent me a better picture than in the instruction sheet that helped clarify where a part was located.

The Albatros J.2 does not have any stagger in the wings so I have not tried out this method yet. My next project will be a Rumpler C.IV and that has a double bay and a stagger in the wing. I will be anxious to see how it works.

I guess the usual disclaimer applies. I have no ties to Aeroclub except a very long time customer and have never been disappointed with their service.

  Dennis
