 Jim : 
No offense but what diameter is "very fine"? I use a micrometer to measure
strue, thread, my wife's hair, styrene or music wire scraps that are
separated from their labels, etc.
 
They all look very fine to the eye. My grandson stretched some sprue to
about 30" long and I got really excited because it looked really fine, but
when I measured it with my micrometer it was the same old .005" at the
thinnest as previous attempts.
 

 Then to avoid disappointment Jim I suggest putting away the micrometer -
that's just way too anal buddy!
