Joel, I went through your whole website (again) and all it did was make me realize I have no business trying to build model airplanes. But it inspires me to keep trying.

I did see that you sometimes make your own wheels from plastic card, using a paper punch. I've tried using a cheap leather punch with poor results. A complete set of quality hole punch sizes would be nice to have but they're expensive. I was hoping to see info on detailing cockpits but at 1:144 and 1:72 maybe you don't even bother.

Hi Jim and others,

Thanks for the comments. I have no secrets, I just build what I want to. To see how, look at the scratch building titles on my picture site at http://wingsandwires.piczo.com I do use Aeroclub and stuff from the spares box whenever possible but often I have to improvise what is needed.

BTW, Dave, I never made that connection with Cream's Jack Bruce. Nice song.......

Cheers,

Joel

Sweet! And interesting subjects (to say the least) ... which is a neat way to distinquish your models from the usual Camels, Spads, Nieuports, etc. Your shishkabob method on the Bantam is the same thing I did on my Salmson. You make scratch building look so easy. You inspire me to try it. Do you scratch build your wheels? They look just like kit wheels. I just wish you'd take progress photos so I could steal all your secrets.
