In Windsock Datafile 14:BE2E there is a picture of a crashed B.E. showing
the bottom of the aircraft. The bottom of the top wing is dark. According to
the Colour and markings section it says home defense B.E.'s had top painted
PC10 and eventually extended to the bottom and finally were done in all
lampblack.
Hope this helps.
