Website Matters:

The keen-eyed amongst you may have noted that a Security Certificate
appeared on the website during April; previous attempts to obtain one of
these had failed because of PC/Mac interface problems, but with Alex on hand, I
had decided in the run-up to Christmas we would have another stab at this in
the New Year, and whilst it took 3 months, we finally succeeded. However, during the
period we were engaged in this struggle, we heard from a very small number
of customers whose card's appeared to have been cloned shortly after they
ordered from us, most, but not all over the Christmas/New Year period when
we were shut. Investigations on our own computers, and up the line to our
website revealed nothing amiss, but we have strengthened our Firewalls,
virus checkers, bowmen and archers even further - and have not heard of any
further instances of possible cloning since the Security Certificate was installed.

Statistically, the number of possible clonings was insignificant, if
extremely upsetting for the people concerned, but we will be making
significant upgrades to our internal computer systems and the website over
the coming months, both to make the website fully interactive, in that you will know what is in stock when you order, when it is due if not in stock, be able to check progress of your order on-line, arrange payment through a secure, third-party, gateway and, quite possible, make yourself a cup of tea or coffee whilst doing all this.
I hope this will make buying from us an even more pleasant experience. I also hope
it will maker life easier for the long suffering "Girls" at Barrow Farm
who are currently coping womanfully with rather aged computer systems.

We will keep you advised about all this, but meanwhile you will find a note on
the website Order Form of alternative methods of giving us your card details over the
Net, if the above causes you concern.

I hope we will have the pleasure of receiving an order from you for one, or
more, of our sales books, for a new item, or anything else on our website,
but enjoy the summer in any event!
