[WWI] Rickenbacker's SPAD

Hi Warren,
I built a French SPAD using Gorman Larner's "winged star" emblem w/# 13. When I tried putting the
first 13, it practically jumped off the backing paper as soon as it hit the water. It was then that I
realized that the whole backing paper was covered by the decal material, and was really easy to curl
up. Fortunately, the sheet supplied enough #s, so I didn't end up swearing too much. Since the red
color had run, I had to cut the winged star quite closely, which made putting it down very dicey.
I thought I had made it curl up "terminally," but was able to straighten it o.k.. But it was a struggle.
I did manage to rip it, but not so badly that I couldn't put it together. The bottom line is you have to
be very, very careful and patient with these decals. On the upside, their selection of markings are
not usually seen from other makers. I hope they do make some for the Nieuport 28, since I'd rather
do something other than the usual Rickenbacker, et al from the 94th. HTH, and good luck.
Gabe

" One thing though, their decals are very, truly delicate, andthey're not separated. I also found that if you spray them with decal "toughener" the colors run, thiswas not fatal, but certainly annoying. "
Gabriel,
I have a couple of their sheets for my 1/72nd Eduard Nie.17's. Any and all advice you could give regarding your experiences with these decals would be most welcome. TIA!
Warren
