I think the Sram kits are not totally as bad as Andy makes out, but that's
my view. They are expensive for what you get, they do suffer from air
bubbles and you have to scratchbuild all the struttery and undercarriage.
The decals are variable - the German (black and white) ones are OK, the
Allied ones very variable (and often not usable).
I think of them as semi-scratchbuilds. I have built the Morane L and
although it was hard work I think it turned out very well and I definitely
couldn't have scratchbuilt it. But these kits will test your wallet and your
modelling skills.
1/144 decals are pretty rare, so you will have to make your own if you don't
use the ones with the kits. I happened to find some 1/144 scale German and
Allied decals by a company called "Decal Details" at a show, I don't know if
any shops carry them. APC Decals do some lozenge (available from
www.hobbyshop.cz) but I don't like the colours myself.
Cheers,
Nigel
