I've used Testors bottle dullcote (I'm pretty sure it's the same stuff as in the MM bottle) exclusively for aboutn the last 20 years and have had your problem pop up occasionally. Every time it's usually been an indication that the paint was getting old. A new bottle solved the problem every time.
