Was I seeing right? It looks as if they had 3, maybe 4 real SPAD XIII and 1 S VII as stunt planes in Wings. At least one SPAD was destroyed in a stunt. Thomas-Morse/Boeing scouts rounded out the squadron. The Fokkers were Curtiss Hawk PW1 or F6C-1 types. Odd how the later F11C Hawk wound up as Udet's air show mount (and dive bomber research), in light of the Hawk/Fokker masquerade. I wish I still had me copy of stunt pilot Dick Grace's autobiography; he discussed his work in Wings and Lilac Time, and had pix of several stunts, one involving flying a real DVII into the ground. -John Marganski
