No, he was not Bavarian. He served for a short time with Bavarian units. But
he was born in Frankfurt / Main and entered the war with the Würtenberger
unit. This has been one of he reasons, why he was not awarded with Knight's
Cross of the Military Max-Joseph Order, thus not becoming Bavarian Ritter
