Yep, if you read the "small print" on the back of the fancy label Testors Model Master lacquer, it actually states that the "clear" will dry with a yellow tone. Too bad they don't print that bigger on the front of the can.
I also use the cheaper Testors dullcote spray in the good ol' rattle can with the black/yellow label...models from 15 years ago still hold up with no change in color.

My favorite is, testors dullcote. Not the flat laquer, the cheap-o
dullcote in the black can with the yellow label. Shake well and rotate
your stock.
I've found the model master flat laquer to be in all ways inferior to
the 'cheap' stuff in the can with the yellow band on it.
