Hi Don;
    The only profile I have seen of one of Coppens blue Hanriots is in the Osprey "Balloon Busting Aces" book. This shows No. 23 with the undersurfaces still in aluminum dope. Coppens said it was painted "a beautiful royal blue, not dark or pale". He doesn't make reference to how overpainted it was, and I have never seen a photo of one of the blue planes.
    Coppens also says his Hanriot No. 6 was "painted blue all over" because he didn't like the camouflage. If they were just covering up the camouflage, then the undersides might be left alone. As far as I am aware, all Hanriot HDs used the aluminum dope.

                                           J.R. Boye

    Who now has a digital camera and is making numerous attempts to get photos of his own Coppens Hanriot uploaded, but it is not working out. He is now feeling doomed to never having any of his work be viewable..... Anybody know how to make photos from a Kodak camera copyable?

Willie Coppens flew a Blue HD-1 with ! 'ieme
Escadrille. My question is, was it blue all over or were the undersides CDL or
Aluminium?
