Following on from Robert¹s questions on the 2F1, does anyone have dimensions
for the wings on the Taper wing camel?. My references are scant, and
conflicting.

Steve

Subject: [WWI] Sopwith 2.F1 questions for 1/32 build

Hello allŠ I am new to your mailing list, and I am still learning the ropes.
I have not been able to figure out how to search the past messages, so
please bear with me if this has been broached before.

In the coming week I am going to start a Sopwith Camel build. I wish to
convert the 1/32 Hobbycraft Sopwith ³Clerget² to a Sopwith 2.F1 (Culley¹s
N6812).

I see the major differences right off (detachable read aft of cockpit, twin
Lewis guns, different rigging, etc.). The one thing I have yet to figure out
is the top wing. I have read that it was 13 inches narrower than the Sopwith
F.1. Viewing N6812 from many angles, I cannot see that the wing is any
smaller.

Is it possible that the wing was narrower (from front to back, rather than
in the wing span)? Would a 13 inch difference even be perceptible at 1/32
scale?

I am a newbie, and this is my first build, so all comments will be
appreciated.

Thank you.
