Last time I was at the Midland Museum was when I was on my honeymoon 20 years ago. At the time they had several flyable and non-flying CAF aircraft. Here's the museum website: http://www.airpowermuseum.org/

Here's a listing of all their exhibit aircraft, the Midland Museum aircraft are listed as "CAF Headquarters." http://www.commemorativeairforce.org/aircraft/index.html

Their big air show is scheduled for Sept. 20-21 -- maybe a few of the visiting aircraft will still be there a month later. I'll bet a few fly down for the "Wings over Houston" show Oct. 25-26:

I can highly recommend the USS Texas, probably the only OT museum exhibit you'll encounter on the trip. Yes, the ship is tricked out in WW2 fittings, but once you get inside, you'll be transported back to the World War I era. Be sure to try to find a way all the way down to the engine room. Talk about claustrophobic.

I'm almost through with my 1/700 USS Texas in 1914 model and hope to post some pictures by the end of the month.
